About Jack Davey - Latest Ambassador for Velotool

I first got into cycling as a way to get in and out of the city while at university and then to and from work. It started as just a means of transport, but as someone who’s always been active and competitive across a variety of sports, it quickly became something more. I wanted to improve, push myself, and test my ability against others. Riding with different groups and meeting like-minded cyclists only fuelled that further—whether it was sprinting for town signs, racing to the top of climbs, or hunting Strava segments, I was hooked on the challenge.
It was only natural that as I started riding with stronger riders—many of whom also raced—I wanted to see how I stacked up in a race setting. That’s what led me to both racing and, in parallel, creating a race team. What started as a group of mates who wanted to race together turned into something bigger. VENTURE RACING (formerly PMRR) was built from that shared passion, but unlike traditional teams, we did things a little differently. Race days were full-on, but outside of that, we kept things fun—café rides, post-race beers, and not taking ourselves too seriously as long as we had good stories to tell.
Over the years, the team evolved. Riders came and went, we introduced a women’s squad, and like many things, the pandemic shifted our focus. We all had more responsibilities—starting businesses, growing families, and heading in different directions. That’s where the team took on a new identity VENTURE RACING. Less of a structured team and more of a cycling movement, it’s now about individual progression, personal goals, and competitive spirit without the pressure of results. The only expectation? Show up, give it your all, and know you’ve got a squad that has your back—whether that’s in a race, on a big ride, or over a coffee and cake afterward.
Outside of racing, my professional life is in architecture, where I run my own studio with my best mate. I’ve always been creative and love problem-solving, which is something that naturally carries over into my cycling. Whether it’s plotting routes for the weekly group ride, finding the best café stop, navigating new adventures, or spending hours fettling with my bikes, I love the process of refining and improving. That’s a big part of what excites me about working with VELO-TOOL—having the right tools to get the best out of my bikes, fix issues on the fly, and make sure I can keep pushing myself on every ride.
I’m looking forward to sharing more of that side of cycling—maintenance tips, race-day prep, and the tools that keep me rolling. Excited to be on board with VELO-TOOL and can’t wait to get stuck in!
