Complete Tubeless Conversion Guide
Converting to tubeless tyres delivers superior puncture protection, lower rolling resistance, and the ability to run lower pressures for improved grip and comfort. This professional system includes everything you need for a flawless conversion.
Step-by-Step Conversion Process
1. Prepare Your Rims
Remove existing tyres and inner tubes completely. Clean the rim bed thoroughly, removing any old tape, dirt, or debris. The surface must be completely clean and dry for proper tape adhesion.
2. Apply Tubeless Rim Tape
Select the correct width tape for your rim (measure the internal width). Starting opposite the valve hole, apply the tubeless rim tape with firm, even pressure, ensuring no air bubbles or wrinkles. Overlap the starting point by 10-15cm and press firmly.
3. Install Tubeless Valves
Insert your tubeless valve through the hole in the tape. Hand-tighten the lock ring firmly - avoid over-tightening which can damage the tape seal.
4. Mount and Seat the Tyre
Install one bead of the tyre onto the rim. Before mounting the second bead, remove the valve core using a valve core removal tool. Use a high-volume pump or compressor to rapidly inflate the tyre. You should hear distinct 'pops' as each bead seats into the rim.
5. Add Sealant
Remove the valve core and inject 60-80ml for road tyres or 80-120ml for MTB tyres of Magic Milk Hi-Fibre sealant. Reinstall the valve core and inflate to desired pressure.
6. Distribute and Seal
Rotate and shake the wheel vigorously to distribute sealant evenly. You may see sealant weeping through the tyre casing - this is normal and will seal within minutes. Leave horizontal for 10-15 minutes to allow full sealing.
Maintenance
Check sealant levels every 3-6 months and top up as needed. For trail punctures, carry a tubeless repair tool for quick fixes.
