Check the cause of brake rub first
Brake rub does not always mean a bent rotor. Check wheel seating, rotor installation and brake alignment using the relevant manufacturers’ instructions before attempting to adjust a rotor.
Compatibility and safe use
Confirm that the slot fits your rotor and that its construction is suitable for truing. The 42mm and 15mm end markings are not rotor-thickness compatibility ratings. Do not force the tool onto a rotor.
Follow the brake and rotor manufacturers’ service guidance. Let the rotor cool before handling, keep the braking surface free from oil and grease, and keep fingers clear of sharp edges.
This tool is not a repair for a cracked, heavily damaged or excessively worn rotor. If you are unsure whether adjustment is appropriate, have a qualified bicycle mechanic inspect it. Check braking operation before riding.
