Holding the chain in a more organised position can help keep it away from the frame while you work. It does not replace careful handling, protective packing or a secure work support.

Using the chain keeper
Follow the supplied fitting instructions and your bicycle manufacturer’s wheel-removal guidance. Support the bike securely, remove the rear wheel, position the chain correctly on the keeper and secure the fitting as directed.
Check clearance before moving the drivetrain. Keep hands and loose clothing away from moving parts. Remove the keeper and reinstall the wheel correctly before riding.
For cleaning and packing
A chain keeper is a maintenance and packing aid, not a guarantee against frame or derailleur damage. Use appropriate additional protection when transporting your bicycle. It is not a replacement for a wheel, a repair stand or a structural dropout brace.
